Posted: March 13, 2014 DECI honors RCU as its Member of the Year
DECI has amazing supporters and that made selecting a DECI Member of the Year challenging. But because of so many great reasons, Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. honored RCU as its Member of the Year for 2013. An Annual Awards Dinner took place on February 26 at Houligan's Steak and Seafood Pub with about 75 people in attendance.
RCU likely could be recognized by a great many organizations for its amazing contributions and support. But we are truly grateful that RCU holds Downtown Eau Claire -the place AND the organization, near and dear. RCU knows the value in supporting and strengthening our city center. Those at RCU know that, as the heart of the city, a strong, vibrant downtown leads to a better community for all of Eau Claire. Members of RCU particpate and have a strong voice on many committees and our Board of Directors. RCU has contributed to DECI events beyond expectations, in 2013 alone, giving $7,500.
Looking back, RCU was persistent and patient and went through a lengthy municipal approval process, in order to build a $12 million, 100,000 square foot, Class A facility that has served as the catalyst for a major redevelopment in Downtown Eau Claire. In 2012, Brian Carey, Vice President of the company that developed the headquarters said, “After several years of studying and planning, the City of Eau Claire is undertaking a sweeping redevelopment, and it’s fitting that a strong, hometown company like RCU is the first to invest in the area. We've worked with the City and RCU for a nearly a year to ensure this project will be the right fit for this high-profile location at the confluence of the Eau Claire and Chippewa Rivers."
Since then, RCU has been one of the first to contribute to another large scale project that would serve as an economic catalyst, contributing $1 million to the Confluence Project.
Thank you to RCU, our DECI Member of the Year.
