Downtown Sign Provisions May be Updated
A new DECI committee is forming to discuss the current provisions of the City Sign Code as they relate to the Downtown area. Special sign districts have been created for the Downtown and Water Street commercial areas. These districts provide signage standards that are unique to the rest of the commercial area within the City. City of Eau Claire Senior Planner Pat Ivory says in the last couple of years, within these districts, standards were adopted to permit sidewalk signs and projecting signs. In addition, within the Downtown area, roof signs and flashing signs are permitted. A committee that's forming will review the sign code standards and consider updates. Members will develop recommendations that will be presented to the Plan Commission.
