Posted: August 28, 2013 Swan Lake Ballet Studio Celebrates Two Years


Ganna Kotenko spent her younger years in her hometown of Crimea, Ukraine, learning classical ballet. Her passion for the art continued after moving to the United States at age 14. She has now owned and operated her own ballet studio in Eau Claire for two years.


In 2011, Kotenko won Honorable Mention in Downtown Eau Claire, Inc.'s Jump-Start Business Plan Competition. She opened a studio in Banbury Place in 2011.


Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. is helping to celebrate her accomplishments and success of her studio. A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate Swan Lake's two-years in business was held Monday, at her studio at Banbury Place, Building 13, Suite 122.


Swan Lake Ballet Studio promotes classical choreography through diverse and professional instruction to help the individual student develop dancing skills. Classes are open to a variety of ages, including adults. Her students have performed at many Downtown Eau Claire events, including Summer Fest, the International Fall Festival, and Christmastime in the City.


Kotenko, who is an instructor at her studio , attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, performed with the Bay Area Houston Ballet Theater in Houston, TX, and in 2009, earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in dance at UW-Eau Claire.


The ceremony included addresses by Mark Willer, DECI Board President and Kerry Kincaid, City Council President. There was also be a classical ballet performance by Kotenko's students.
