Posted: August 19, 2013 South Barstow Street is Open to Traffic

It was a great day to celebrate the new look of South Barstow Street! The street portion was finished eight days ahead of the contractor deadline. Contractors were praised for their hard work, as were engineers, and businesses owners for being positive through this time.
After a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the barricades were removed, and the street was open to traffic.  The Phil Circle Band played on the corner of South Barstow and East Grand Avenue to help celebrate the occasion.
While the street is ready for traffic, the project isn't complete.  There are still brick pavers being placed in the boulevards, electrical and irrigation work to be done, plantings will arrive, pedestrian scale lighting will be put up, and lastly trees will be planted.  There will also be benches and waste receptacles ordered and placed.  The whole project will be complete in October.  Please watch your step as you visit our Downtown merchants!
