Posted: May 2, 2013 Farmers Market Will Spring to a Start
"Usually one of the first things we have is asparagus, but I don't see that happening," said Deidre Barrickman, Market Manager. "It's still in the ground!"
Barrickman said she's working on bringing in new vendors, as well as scheduling music entertainment and artist vendors. "We have at least one hundred vendors later in the season. We'll have about 20 to start, because of a lack of things growing right now."
With 2,000 people attending the Farmers Market during peak season in June and July, Barrickam said she hears a lot of positive feedback. "People have relatives visiting and they bring them to the Farmers Market. I hear 'we don't have anything like this, it's beautiful!' They're impressed by it."
The Farmers Market will also participate in the Food Share program, beginning in mid-June.
This summer Phoenix Park will also welcome the Artist Market of Eau Claire, an event that will showcase the work of area artists and crafters every other Saturday during the Farmer's Market, beginning May 18. The Artist Market is in its second year and artists can apply by emailing: email@example.com.
