Posted: March 28, 2013 National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day!
Small, locally owned and independently operated businesses are the lifeblood of our economy. So, it's great that we have a day set aside to honor those that contribute so much to our community's well-being. March 29 has been dedicated as National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day. It's a day to recognize small business owners, particularly husband and wife business owner teams.
It's important that we celebrate small businesses, and that we help contribute to their success. Small business owners are brave enough and determined enough to work for themselves. They account for 70 percent of U.S. Commerce. If you generally pass up these merchants, take a moment this week to stop in and see what our locally-owned Downtown Eau Claire shops and restaurants have to offer. Grab a cup of coffee at a Downtown coffee shop, have lunch at a café, pick up some cute kid's clothing at a boutique, have some flowers sent from a Downtown florist. Go to a bike shop, salon, barber, or all the other places you may come across around South Barstow Street, North Barstow Street, Water Street, and West Grand Avenue, and stop in and say thanks for all the hard work they do.
Celebrate National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day by showing your support. Please shop their stores today, and every day!
