EAU CLAIRE, WI – Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. (DECI) announced the winners of the eighth annual Jump-Start Downtown Business Plan Competition during an Awards Luncheon on August 23, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. The reception was held at the RCU Corporate Center at 200 Riverfront Terrace in Downtown Eau Claire.
The 1st Place Prize of $5,000 along with a $1500 media package from Charter Media and DECI, was awarded to Jeremy Surguy, who entered a business plan to open Tablet 23, a brew-on-premise business where clients can produce high quality beer on the premise of a retail operation instead of home brewing.
The Honorable Mention award and $1000 media package from Charter Media and DECI went to Vanessa Moessner for The Lily Pad Lab, providing families with a “playroom, classroom, and community” in which to entertain, stimulate, and educate young children.
JAMF Software owner and Eau Claire native entrepreneur, Zach Halmstad, delivered the keynote speech. “Every year we are so impressed with the quality of the business plans that we receive,” said Mike Schatz, Executive Director of Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. “We look forward to working with these new and exciting businesses that will help to grow our downtown.”
