Posted: October 2, 2018 Raggedy Man Wins Jump-Start Downtown Business Competition
Eau Claire, Wis. – Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. (DECI) announced the winners of the fourteenth annual Jump-Start Downtown Business Competition during an Awards Luncheon today. The reception was held in the Royal Credit Union Corporate Center at 200 Riverfront Terrace in Downtown Eau Claire, and was catered by the sideBAR on GRAND, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Eau Claire.
There were 5 applicants for the 2018 competition with 3 winners. All applicants are eligible for the Entrepreneurial Training Program at the Small Business Development Center within one year, and will receive the DECI Media Package. “We are excited to be able to offer more to applicants than ever before and, thanks to our sponsors, award more cash since 2005!” said Ray French, Business Assistance Specialist with Downtown Eau Claire, Inc.
The Jim Mishefske Award (grand prize award) of $5,000 for start-up capital sponsored by Royal Credit Union, $750 Advertising Credit with The Leader Telegram, and a Brand Development Strategy Session with JB Systems, was awarded to Matt Pabich for Raggedy Man Goods & Gifts on South Barstow Street. Raggedy Man is an affordable gift shop stocked with unique items not available at other retailers in the area.
The Honorable Mention Award of $2,500 for start-up capital sponsored by this year’s Leap Sponsors, WESTconsin Credit Union, Market & Johnson, Mayo Clinic Health System, Weld Riley, and Xcel Energy, plus a $500 credit with Spin Vision, was awarded to Tabatha Voss for The Broom & Crow. Located on East Grand Avenue, The Broom & Crow serves the Pagan community in the Chippewa Valley offering divination and potion supplies, local art, and books.
The Innovative Idea Award of a $1,000 cash award sponsored by Jamf, was awarded to Bibi Krumenauer for Star Cup. Currently located at Oakwood Mall, Star Cup is a bubble tea shop that is planning to expand to Downtown in the next year.
