Posted: July 12, 2018 Valleybrook Church Awarded Downtown Enhancement Grant
EAU CLAIRE, WI – Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. (DECI) is proud to announce that the winner of the second Downtown Enhancement Grant is Valleybrook Church for their Light Up Hollywood and Marquee project! This grant award was made possible in part by a generous donation to the program by Cynthia Wing-Reed of B~Framed Galleries.
The judges for this grant cycle included:
- Cynthia Wing-Reed, B~Framed Galleries
- Lissa Siedow, Downtown Supporter
- Becca Cooke, Red’s Mercantile
- Emilu Starck, Ruder Ware
With the $2,000 grant, Valleybrook Church will replace the marquee lights and Hollywood sign with energy-efficient LED bulbs, update the electrical, and add a timer to the lights so they are on every night. With over 1,000 lights in all, the newly lit marquee and sign will add to the increasing ambiance in Downtown, create a sense of safety on the block, and take advantage of energy efficiencies through LED lighting. Valleybrook Church is also funding the project through a Go Fund Me Campaign: “Hollywood Lights”, which can be found here: https://www.gofundme.com/hollywood-lights.
“This exciting project will re-light a part of our historic Downtown and is a natural fit with the recent lighting of the Phoenix Park and other bridges!” said Ray French, Business Assistance Specialist. The grant was presented to Valleybrook Church at the July 11, 2018 DECI Board of Directors Meeting.
Applications for the next grant cycle will be released in September and due at the end of November. The next grant will be awarded at the Board of Directors meeting in January, 2019.
