Eau Claire, Wis. – Downtown Eau Claire, Inc., the Rotary Club of Eau Claire, and the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire are excited to announce the completion of work on the Phoenix Park Bridge lighting project, known as “The River Lights at Phoenix Park”.

The community is invited to the public unveiling on Thursday, October 12th at 7:00pm at Phoenix Park. Watch as the lights come on for the first time, and enjoy a walk around the park and across the bridge. Click here to check-in on Facebook.

The project included the installation of 172 lights on the 526 foot long bridge spanning the Chippewa River. Scheduled bridge closures occurred throughout the summer, allowing contractors from B&B Electric to complete the installation. With work complete, the bridge is again open to the public full time.

Beginning October 12th, the bridge is scheduled to be lit every night. The bridge will be bathed in ambient colors that can change for seasons and events, and will highlight the unique and historic architectural structure of the bridge. The result will be a world-class attraction that can be enjoyed by the public year-round.

Organizations, businesses, and individuals will soon be able to sponsor a night to celebrate an event or cause. Sponsors can have the bridge shine in their chosen colors, with the added possibility of a special light show. Additional details about sponsored nights will be available soon.

The project is made possible thanks to the joint efforts of the Rotary Club of Eau Claire, Downtown Eau Claire, Inc., the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and the City of Eau Claire, as well as hundreds of sponsors and donors. Project partners still have $60,000 to raise towards the total project cost of $400,000 and are asking for the support of the community to finish fundraising. To learn more and donate, visit
