Posted: August 24, 2017 Eau Claire Dance Festival adds to lineup
Best-selling author Nickolas Butler will join dancers, musicians and another acclaimed local writer as participants in Saturday’s Eau Claire Dance Festival: Act I.
Butler will combine his writing with the sounds of Eau Claire musicians Tim Sullivan and Jeremy Boettcher and the movements of dancer Chloe Chambers in a series of performances at The Volume One Gallery at the Local Store, 205 N. Dewey St. Performances at that site are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and are loosely set to occur each subsequent half hour until 1 p.m.
In addition to The Local Store perforamnces, other dance festival performers will be at the following sites, with performances beginning at the times listed and occurring roughly each half hour until 1 p.m.:
• State Theatre lobby, starting at 10:15 a.m: Dancer Don Williams and UW-Eau Claire trumpet player Lucas Larson.
• Phoenix Park, starting at 10 a.m.: Dancers Christy Dobbratz and Karin Jarvise.
• Baroque sculpture, starting at 10:15 a.m.: Dancer Katie Rhoten and local poet Andy Patrie.
• Owen Park bandshell, starting at 10 a.m.: UW-Eau Claire dancer Maren Madsen and UW-Eau Claire jazz musicians.
Each site will host a half dozen short, improvisational performances. At Phoenix Park, the sounds of the Farmers Market and its surroundings will provide the soundscape.
The event is scheduled as a dance walk, attracting people to explore downtown. The festival is free and open to the public.
