Eau Claire, Wis. – Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. has been awarded a Merit Award by the International Downtown Association (IDA). The award recognizes Downtown Eau Claire’s effort to improve the image and vitality of Downtown through the creation of the Let It Glow! event and fundraising. The award was announced at the IDA annual conference in Atlanta earlier this month. This is the fourth major award the Downtown Eau Claire has received from the IDA and the Economic Development Council. Previous awards recognized Phoenix Park (public space category), Downtown INK (newspaper/newsletter/magazine category), and the Idea Lounge series (special event category).
Downtown Eau Claire Executive Director Mike Schatz says the organization is honored to receive the award. “Downtown Eau Claire is proud to be recognized as a leader in innovative community events. Let It Glow! has been a big success and has become a new tradition in Downtown Eau Claire. We look forward to the community enjoying the beauty of Downtown during the holiday season and throughout the winter.”
Let It Glow! began in 2014 as an effort to raise funds to bring more glow to Downtown by putting up holiday lights in Phoenix Park. Eighteen trees have been covered in lights so far, with a goal to add more each year. A tree lighting ceremony will be held on Friday, December 2nd and the lights will be up throughout the winter for all to enjoy. Sponsorship opportunities are available by contacting Downtown Eau Claire.
