EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Lismore Hotel Eau Claire began accepting guests Wednesday afternoon. The hotel underwent a $21 million rebuild the last two years.

The eight-story building features 112 guest rooms with views of downtown Eau Claire.

The Lismore Hotel Eau Claire - a DoubleTree by Hilton is owned by Pablo Properties.

Owners said this is the only full-service hotel in the downtown area. The hope is the hotel's proximity to parks and attractions will help draw in those overnight guests.

One Eau Claire native WEAU 13 News spoke with said she's glad to see the hotel renovated.

"With all the bars and restaurants and all kinds of other things going on events and festivals, I think it'll definitely give people options to stay. I'm sure certain times of the year it'll fill up more than others, but I definitely think we have the right atmosphere and the right clientele," said Jessica Gardner.

The Lismore also includes a convention center, a coffee shop, lounges, and a restaurant.

In case you're wondering where the hotel's name comes from, it's inspired by its sister city of Lismore, Australia.

Guests will also notice the connection in the hotel rooms where the wallpaper features designs made of clippings from Lismore newspapers.

After two years of planning and remodeling, a new downtown hotel has officially opened its doors.

The Lismore officially opened its doors to the hotel at 5 p.m. Wednesday evening. Along with the Doubletree by Hilton hotel, the building includes a restaurant, bar and coffee shop.

The former Ramada Inn was completely renovated to the tune of $20 million. The Lismore has 100 modern rooms and hopes to bring visitors to Eau Claire from all over the world.
