Sculpture Tour Eau Claire Announces 2016-2017 Season
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Sculpture Tour Eau Claire (STEC) celebrates the start of the 2016 -2017 season on May 4, 2016. This will be the sixth season.
With support from The City of Eau Claire, Classic Moving & Storage and Northwest Enterprise, Inc. (NWE), sculptures will be installed this Wednesday. Volunteer crews and artists will begin at 5 a.m. on Barstow Street.
Thirty-four sculptures will be installed on May 4th, and be part of this season’s sculpture tour. Thirty-two artists are participating. They come from Canada and 17 different states that include California, Wyoming, Montana, Iowa, Arizona, Connecticut.
“Eau Claire is fabulous for artists,” says 2015-2016 People’s Choice winner Dale Lewis. “I live in the Twin Cities area and there’s nothing that compares to what Eau Claire has brought and does for artists.” Mr. Lewis is returning this year with a sculpture called “Sasquatch”.
Sculptures will be on public display for 11 months on S. Barstow, N. Barstow, Water Street and Mayo campus totaling 6.25 miles. Community businesses, City BID boards and philanthropists sponsor sculpture sites, donate products and provide additional financial and volunteer support to Sculpture Tour, a 501(c)3 non-profit.
Sculptures are on loan by the artist, and available for sale. Sculptures are priced by the artists. Prices vary and range from $1,850 to $66,000.
“This year’s selection reflects our community’s vibrancy and diversity,” says Michelle Koehn, Executive Director. “Sculpture Tour is a distinct public arts collaboration. Local business owners, cultural and city partners, volunteers and families all bring very unique talents and resources to support our participating artists and elevate The Arts within our community.”
