A new Chinese and Japanese restaurant is pushing through snags in construction that delayed its anticipated September opening, readying for completion on Dec. 20.
Bihn and Feng Lin's quaint and classy eatery Ninja is situated in the middle of a progressively developing S. Barstow Street, and marks their second restaurant after six years of operating Commonwealth Ave.'s buffet-style Asia Palace.
Feng Lin said the opening is especially exciting for her husband, who will take on a long term goal of showcasing his sushi craft.
"My husband and I have wanted to open a restaurant of this kind for many years," Feng Lin said. "We're happy to have found the right time and place."
Lin said Ninja, fit to house roughly 100, hopes to draw both the campus area and the professional lunch crowd from local businesses with their sushi bar and Chinese menu.
The Lins are also preparing to facilitate downtown nightlife with a full bar, open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.
"We're doing something completely different than Asia Palace," Feng Lin said. "We're preparing for a new clientele with fresh cooked-to-order Chinese."
After settling in, the owners said Ninja plans to offer a happy hour and other specials.
