Amy Erickson's epiphany came in April of last year.
Her best friend's husband, Jim Mishefske, a former Small Business Development Center director at UW-Eau Claire and a Chippewa Falls High School graduate, had died unexpectedly and her father was diagnosed with cancer.
"All I wanted to do was stay in bed and cry," said Erickson, whose father currently is faring well. "Yoga was the only thing that could get me out of bed."

Having known she wanted to run her own business since she was in the ninth grade at St. Francis (Minn.) High School, the UW-Eau Claire graduate laid the groundwork for opening her own studio. Jim had previously suggested business-related books to read. "I felt like this was a sign," Erickson said of Mishefske's untimely passing. He was 36.
