Exploring Classical Music

Introducing a community class for adults through UWEC’s Continuing Education Department. Join us this fall to grow an appreciation of Classical Music! This course will include lively discussion and a trip to a performance by the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra. Read below for more information!

Class Description:
Learn how to really listen to Classical Music!
Fine tune your listening skills with this introductory course in Classical Music! Immerse yourself in the history, significant composers, and major works of the Western European musical tradition. Enrich your understanding of influential composers and compositional styles ranging from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras, all the way up to the 20th Century. Designed for the music enthusiast, you will discover a new way to listen to and understand classical music.

Enjoy a Classical Music Concert
A separate field trip to "Mostly Baroque" of the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra is recommended, but not required.
Time and Location: Saturday, September 29, 7:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 1005 Oxford Ave., Eau Claire.

Christopher Wilson (M.M., The Boston Conservatory; B.M., Eastern Washington University) is a local music pedagogue and performer. He is currently an Adjunct Instructor at Lakeland College, and a Percussion Instructor at the Eau Claire Music School and Chippewa Falls High School. He has also worked with the Blugold Marching Band’s drumline, and percussionists at North High School. He is also an in-demand musician, performing as a soloist throughout the Midwest. He has performed locally with the Eau Claire Chamber Orchestra and Chippewa Valley Symphony.
