Ribbon Cutting: Carson Park Causeway

Friday, November 17th, 2017

Corner of Lake Street and Grand Avenue

A ribbon cutting for the opening of the Carson Park Causeway will take place on Friday, November 17th at 11:00am. The ceremony will take place at the corner of Lake Street and Grand Avenue. The public is invited to attend and help celebrate the opening.

Representatives from the City of Eau Claire, Wisconsin DOT, and Wisconsin DNR will speak. The road will be open to traffic shortly after the ceremony.

The new causeway will include multi-use trails along both sides, ADA accessible fishing piers, decorative lighting, boulevards, bike lanes, and additional recreational enhancements. Construction to replace the existing bridge over Half Moon Lake and the causeway approach to the bridge began in July 2017.

“The City of Eau Claire is incredibly proud of the re-opening of this historic gateway into Carson Park, a jewel of the Eau Claire community,” said Dave Solberg, City Engineer for the City of Eau Claire. “We’re also extremely appreciative of the partnership with Wisconsin DOT and Wisconsin DNR that made this project such a success.”

“On behalf of Downtown Eau Claire Inc., we are pleased to see the City’s continued investment in recreational amenities that make us an exciting place to live,” said Mike Schatz, Executive Director of Downtown Eau Claire, Inc. “Carson Park is a community gem and the causeway will enhance the park experience with easy access from downtown.”
