Writing for Exposure: Why Writers Need to Get Paid for Communities to Flourish

Tuesday, May 16th, 2017

The Volume One Gallery, 205 N. Dewey Street Eau Claire, WI 54703

Discussions of creativity and commerce are confusing, controversial, and somehow still taboo. Writers are taught to “do it for the love” but what happens when they need to pay the bills? Local writers and poets consider the topic of commerce and creativity in writing. Guests include writers BJ Hollars, Nickolas Butler, Patti See, and Julie Bowe, along with poet and teacher Karen Drydyke, Sarah Johnson of Esjay Copywriting, and Mike Paulus of Volume One. Elizabeth de Cleyre of Dotters Books will moderate.
