First Annual "Tour de Summer Fest" Planned for August 4th!

For the first time ever, this year's Summer Fest will feature a 10 mile bike ride sponsored by the Eau Claire Bike Pedestrian Advisory Commission.  The Tour de Summer Fest will be a casual ride for people of all ages and is expected to be about an hour and a half to complete.  The event will start and end at Phoenix Park.  If you are interested in participating in the event, please note the following information:

  • The Tour de Summer Fest is FREE
  • The event will start gathering at 1:30pm and the actual ride will start at 2pm
  • There will be a list of everyone that is riding but there will NOT be a formal registration process
  • There will be a discussion with the riders before the ride about safety and route information
  • All riders NEED a safe bike and a HELMET in order to ride. There will be mechanics and an air pump there to help make needed repairs
  • During the ride there will be a lead biker who will be ahead of the pack, a sweeper who will stay at the rear of the pack, and several guide bikers who will ride in the middle of the pack.  There will also be guides at busy intersections to help riders move safely

The route itself is as follows:

Start at Phoenix Park and head across the old train bridge to the bike trail on the west side of the Chippewa River. Head south on that trail and follow it all the way along the river to the Clairemont Avenue Bridge.  Join the Clairemont bike trail heading southeast and take it east all the way to Hastings Way. go north on the west sided of Hastings way, through the Fenwick St. bike tunnel and east on the Spooner Ave bike trail to Altoona. Turn north on the bike trail on 10th St West and follow it up to River Prairie Dr. Cross the Eau Claire River bridge and then join the Galloway St. bike trail and head west back toward Phoenix Park.
